I am someone who enjoys figuring out new ways to heal, by listening to intuitive guidance that comes to me when I sit in meditative thought.
I have been doing this for years, and over that time, I produced a card deck of images known as the Sacred Symbols of the Stars, as well as their accompanying workshops.
I didn’t want to follow along with what everyone else was doing, because where’s the fun in that?
I wanted to be the one that the universe spoke to, so that I knew that whatever came through was not watered-down, changed by someone else’s judgements or their beliefs about what is possible and what is not.
Instead, I chose to sit in wonder, asking my own questions, and listening and learning in an unbiassed way.
This has always been my nature. If everyone is going that way, then im more likely to stop, look around and possibly walk in the opposite direction, just to see what’s over there.
It is the adventurer in me. The one who wants to explore, and shine a light on something that hasn’t been talked about or known before.
It’s the inquisitive child in me that doesn’t want to listen to all of the experts in the room, she wants to go off and trek around the universe, to see what she can find out herself.
This led me to meditating a lot, in a way where I stilled my mind and heard what I wanted to learn about, which was something different, something new, and not what I could read in a book.
Whilst in a state of discovery, I was shown that I could draw sacred geometry, and that I would be guided by the same voice that spoke to me intuitively, so that I could create something special and meaningful.

This all began after a trip to Egypt in 2007, and while I sat in wonder, listening to my intuitive knowing, I began hearing directions, measurements, shapes, and how to put together the image that was forming in my mind.
I loved how it felt to listen and learn, and be guided by something magical that was talking to me – my own unique sparkly self called Kushla, who exists in the higher realm as my elevated consciousness.
Through this process of listening to her, and all that she had to tell me about evolutionary growth, I became someone who knows how to draw imagery, that depicts certain things of a healing kind.
I then came to be someone who created a card deck of geometries, known as the Sacred Symbols of the Stars, and I found that I was capable of a lot more than I had believed possible.
Through listening to my higher guidance, I changed in a lot of positive ways that made my life abundant and wonderful, because I got to express myself with joyful banter and connection to other people.
My higher self helped me to create powerful processes of healing, meditations that changed perception in a healthy way, and workshops where I taught people how to let chi forms into their body, so that they could rid themselves of their past.
It helped me to grow into someone who could speak to large groups of individuals, go to big expos and tell people about my creations, and even travel across the country by myself, so that I could teach my students something empowering.
This wonderful part of me that knew of my potential, in a way that I did not, had a plan that I was totally unaware of. I just rocked up each day and said “what are we doing now?” and I let her lead the way.
It was fascinating to me that I had become this person who could do so much, because it wasn’t that long ago that I was suffering with crippling self-worth issues, as abusive situations had taught me to be a powerless person.
But my higher-self had other ideas of who I really was, and over the years of me listening to her guidance, she taught me something different to believe.
I often wondered how I had become this new confident version of myself, who wasn’t afraid to speak up and say “listen to me.” However, life was so fun and enjoyable that I didn’t really care how it all happened, I just wanted it to continue.
What I wasn’t aware of is that an evolution had occurred, where I chose to learn from my higher knowing, and in that giving-over process, I stopped judging myself so harshly and critiquing my every move.
This led to me being able to voice my opinions, stand my ground energetically so that other people couldn’t intimidate me, and all through my body were self-love signatures of pride.
This all happened because I trusted in myself so powerfully.
To be like this was a wonderful experience, and one that I treasure to this day. But, I ‘fell off the wagon’ so-to-speak, and went back to a previously programmed response to reality, when my past woke-up inside of me.
It began saying things about me that were so negative, that it swallowed up my prideful nature, and I became someone who hides who they are 24/7.
For 8 years of my life, I had dated men who were violent and abusive, and while I had moved on from those experiences, my body had remembered every detail of what had happened to me, while I chose to ignore it.
That was not a conscious decision that I made. It was out of survival and wanting my life to be better. So, I boxed it up, stored it away, and never looked at it again.
However, when self-love began flowing again, from me being in a healthy relationship for the first time in years, my past began peaking out of its hiding place, throwing me into turmoil.

Luckily this is also when sacred geometry began coming through to me after Egypt, so I was able to find still moments where I felt peaceful and calm.
This taught me something about myself that I wasn’t aware of which fascinated my mind, and through this tuning-in process, I handled my grief, I got through flashbacks phobias and insomnia, and I found a way to be a positive person.
I didn’t know that my intuition was calling out to me, saying “focus on me instead and I will get you to a point of you being okay again.”
I drew what I was told to: beautiful shapes and patterns that made me feel harmonious and joyful. This little window into a world unknown encouraged me to grow beyond my traumatic state, into a person who was willing to change their thoughts, so that they could get through one day into the next.
This depression state that I was in at the time confused me a lot, because I wasn’t entirely sure of what it meant to me, as I was now with someone who was loving and kind.
The past was wanting my attention, so that it could be cleared out of my psyche, and the only way that it could move, was if loving thoughts entered my being.
My instructions were to draw as often as possible, paint whatever I drew, and then give that image to the person that I made it for. Simple, I could do that, because I loved how it felt to be an artist who created something for others that made them feel good.

I drew many sacred geometry artworks over the years that I was locked indoors with agoraphobia. But when the Sacred Symbols of the Stars came through, it was different, in the sense that I wasn’t in a bad place mentally anymore. I was actually living in another part of Australia, having just begun teaching Reiki.
I had started a business centred around healing and offering my services to others, and this gave me the courage to be the person that I had always wanted to be – someone who teaches others to heal.
When I began sharing my love of Reiki with other people, something woke-up inside of me, that said I had worth and value, and that I had found my calling. This new found confidence grew into thoughts of ‘what else can I do?’ and with that came the Sacred Symbols of the Stars.

I had seen a vision of a card deck that I would create, and I waited in wonder of what this meant for me. Then, something magical happened in my bedroom one evening. I saw golden geometries coming out of my heart.
I had never seen anything like this before, and I knew in that moment that this was connected to my cards, and what they represented in the form of self-love.
Once I had given birth to my youngest son, the channelling process began. While I breast fed and rested alongside my baby, I would be inspired by visions, colours, thoughts connected to what each symbol meant, and things like how to draw the patterns and shapes.
This led to me coming up with what you see in the backgrounds of each image that is a part of the card deck.
I would also be woken in the night to see intuitive imagery that had manifested in my room, which wowed me. Then, when I had woken up fully, I would jot down what I had seen, so that I could put it into the final artwork for that symbol.
It was a magical time in my life of rebirth and connection to something higher, and I loved every minute of studying myself, my surroundings, and everything that happened as each geometry came through.
This is how I learnt the meaning of each symbol, by taking notice of the shifts and changes, both within myself as well as in the world around me. These diary entries became a part of the card deck book and the workshops that I taught about the Sacred Symbols of the Stars.
There came a time in 2014 when everything began to change, as I now had enough self-love in me to show myself the truth of who I was, as a whole and complete being. I had only just returned to living in Perth, and from the moment that I got there, I woke-up to a past that had been completely out of view.
I had hidden a big chunk of years away from my intuitive knowing, and along with this, a lot of my power to be myself. So, when it said “hello, remember me, I’m your all-ness of self,” I could hardly believe what I was aware of.
It threw me into self-doubt and disempowerment, so intensely, that I began retreating into solitude again, just like I had after Egypt. I wasn’t well mentally. I couldn’t hold down a conversation, and all through my body were painful signatures that told me that I was a worthless human being.
Unbeknownst to me, my old life of abuse was now available to me on a conscious level, which made me so unsure of myself, that I could barely cope with being around other people. This gradually led to me closing my business down in 2017, and for all of the time since, I have been self-reflecting and learning of what it meant to be me, back when I was with violent individuals.
This is included here, in the about Kushla information, because the abuse that I went through is woven into my journey of self-healing. It is a fundamental part of who I am as a compassionate person who wants to help others who have suffered as well.
I know what it feels like to have no control over your body, and what it’s doing in the form of malfunction. I know how stressful it is when your mind doesn’t work the way that you want it to. I know how strange life becomes, when your past wakes-up and it won’t leave you alone, disturbing your sleep, your dreams, and every moment that you are thinking.
I know what its like to lose friends that you care about, because you can’t verbalise what is going on. I know how bad it feels when you distance yourself from family and the people you have known the longest, because a shame exists inside of you that is hard to grasp the meaning of.
I know a lot about how downtrodden a person can become, when they have lost their will to be themselves, because I have lived it every day for over 20 years now, and I’m still fighting to get back to normal again.
I don’t have all of the answers, nor some miracle cure. But I do have a heart that is lovingly connected to the universe at large, and it tells me things of a healing nature, that inspired me to grow.
That is what I hope to share with anyone who wants to learn from me – words of an inspirational kind, that help them to heal themselves of the troubling energies of past.
I’m finally ready to talk again, with a confident voice that says, “I know a thing or two about healing from trauma.”
I am Kushla Skinner-Storey, someone who grew from her past, many times over, and along the way, she learnt about coping with traumatic symptoms of shock, the body waking up to violences hold over it, and a number of things where the chi system shuts down due to the mind being unruly.
This is my story written in these pages, spoken out of a heart that is trying its best to be powerful again, one brave move at a time.
